Port Forwarding / Unblocking the Firewall on your Network
1.
You will need to setup port forwarding to access your DVR under these conditions:
a.
If your network is behind a firewall or an internet sharing device, such as a Cable or DSL router. To find out if you are behind an internet sharing device, check your computer's IP and Subnet Address.
b.
If your network address starts with 10.x.x.x, 192.168.x.x, or 172.16.x.x to 172.32.x.x.
[Note: Network addresses starting with 169.x.x.x indicate a misconfigured internet connection on your computer.]
2.
Plug an Ethernet cable to either LAN or Ethernet slot which is on the back of the DVR.
3.

Access the Network Menu on the DVR, and change the network option to DHCP, DHCP On, or Dynamic depending on your model. The purpose of this step is so that DVR can be assigned with an available IP address that the Cable or DSL router is providing.

[Note: If your Network/Server does not have DHCP server enabled, please contact your network administrator to find out what IP address you can use for the DVR.]

4.

Exit completely out from the Network Menu and DVR should be assigned with a new IP address. Make sure to write down the IP address, Netmask, and Gateway. You will need this info rmation later to configure the router or cable modem.

5.

Go back to the Network Menu, and change back to Static or turn the DHCP to OFF. If IP address is defaulted back to the original, please correct it to the address that you wrote it down.

6.
Connect your computer with Ethernet cable to the same device (Cable or DSL router) as your DVR is plugged in, then type in the gateway on internet explorer browser. In most cases, Gateway is the number to get into the router’s menu. For example: type in http://192.168.1.1
7.

You will be prompted with log-in screen, make sure to type in correct user name and password. If you have forgotten this info rmation, please refer to the owner’s manual for that specific device.

8.

After you log-in to the router or cable modem, look for port forwarding menu. If you cannot find this menu, please refer to the website below to find your device. They are listed by the manufactures. http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm

9.
Follow the guide and make sure to port forward the correct IP address of the DVR.

Below are the default ports that HUNT DVR uses:

HVRMSeries:
80 TCP
HVR Series (F/W Version 3.x.x and over): 80 TCP
HVR Series (F/W Version 1.x.x or 2.x.x):

8001 TCP, 8105 TCP, 8405 TCP, 8404 UDP

HMR Series : 7000 TCP
HJR 4Ch & 8Ch : 7000 TCP
HJR 16Ch :

80 TCP, 1104 TCP, 9999 TCP

10.
Depending on the model, your Cable or DSL router may have to be restarted after all the changes have been made.
11.

To ensure that your device is port forwarded correctly, go to the link below and type in the port number that you’ve just opened or unblocked. Make sure you see “Success” message to verify the ports are opened. http://www.canyouseeme.org

[Note: There are some cases that your ISP (Internet Service Provider) may block certain ports widely over their service. If you still see that the ports are not opened / forwarded, please contact your ISP for this matter.]

12.
If you have Static IP address from your ISP, please use that address to log-in. If you have Dynamic IP address from your ISP, you can use our DDNS registration service to keep track the Dynamic IP addresses that changes by itself over time. Please refer to the user’s manual on how to keep track of your IP address using our DDNS registration service.
13.
Now at the remote site, check to see if you can connect and view your DVR. Please refer to the user’s manual on how to use the remote software or browser.
